One Chat is a single conversation with Dvina that holds everything you do. There are no new chats to open and nothing to explain twice: you pick up anywhere, and Dvina already knows.

How it works

You talk to Dvina in one chat. Work, family and errands all go in the same place, and Dvina remembers what matters from each conversation. When you ask something new, it answers knowing what you said before.

Everything in the chat stays organized:

  • Threads keep a back-and-forth about one answer together.
  • Tasks run long jobs in the background while you keep talking.
  • Your Library keeps the files you share and the documents Dvina writes.

Reply in a thread

To follow up on one answer, reply to it in a thread.

  1. Hover over the answer and click Reply, or right-click it (touch and hold on a phone) and choose Reply.
  2. Type your message and send it.

Dvina answers in the thread. The answer in the chat shows how many replies it has; click it to open the thread again. To return to the chat, click Close thread.

Note

If you used Dvina before One Chat, your past chats weren't lost. Each one is now a thread in your chat, on the day it started.

Message actions

Right-click a message (touch and hold on a phone) to see what you can do with it.

  • Copy: Copies the whole message, even when its bubble shows only part of it. On a long message of yours, click it to see the full text.
  • Select: On a task's result, selects the message's text, so you can copy part of it.
  • Share Thread: On an answer with a thread, shares that thread.
  • Report: On one of Dvina's replies, tells the team something is wrong with it.

Report a reply

  1. Right-click the reply (touch and hold on a phone) and choose Report.
  2. Under What's wrong?, choose Offensive or inappropriate, Harmful or unsafe, Inaccurate or Other.
  3. Add Details if you like, then click Send.

The team reviews every report.

Move through a long chat

On a wide screen, a column of marks along the chat's edge shows your messages. Hover over a mark to see the message, and click it to go there. Choose Go to the first message or Go to the latest message to jump to either end.

On a phone or a narrow window, an arrow above the message field takes you to the latest message. When something new arrives while you read, it says New messages below.

Hand off long work

Ask for something that takes a while, like a board deck from a spreadsheet, and keep talking. Dvina runs it as a task in the background. The ring by the message field shows how far it is, and the task reports back in the same chat when it's done.

You can run several tasks side by side. To stop one, choose Stop task on its line in the chat. To stop all of them, choose Stop all in your task list.

Scheduled messages

Write a message now and have it sent later, once or on a schedule.

  1. Type your message.
  2. Open Message options and choose Send later….
  3. Pick a day and a Time. To send it again and again, choose a Repeat: Daily, Weekly, Every 2 weeks, Monthly, Every 3 months, Every 6 months or Yearly.
  4. Click the button that says when it goes, like Send tomorrow at 9:00 AM.

The message waits at the end of your chat, marked Send Later, until it goes. When it's sent, it says Sent from Send Later. A repeating message stays there for its next time.

You can also ask Dvina to send something later; its messages are marked Send Later · Dvina.

Change a scheduled message

To change the message or its time, choose Edit above it. For more, right-click the waiting message (touch and hold on a phone) and choose Send Now, Edit Time, Pause or Delete.

To see all of them, open the Dock and choose Scheduled messages. It shows how many are waiting.

Paused or not sent

  • Send Later · Paused: The message waits until you choose Resume.
  • Not Sent: Something went wrong. Choose Try Again.

A message can repeat at most once an hour, and you can have up to 50 scheduled messages. You can't schedule from a temporary chat.

Use it on every device

Your chat is the same on your phone, your computer, your watch and the web. Everything you send shows up everywhere: your chats, tasks, files and memory. A message you haven't sent yet stays on the device you typed it on.

Ask from anywhere on your computer

In the desktop app, Quick Entry opens a small bar over any app, so you can ask Dvina without switching windows. Press ⌥ Space on a Mac or Alt Space on Windows. To change the shortcut, go to Settings › General › Quick Entry shortcut.

On a Mac, Quick Entry also works with text you've selected in another app. Choose Proofread, Rewrite, Shorten, Summarize and more, then Replace to put the new text back. See Quick Entry.

Keep a conversation private

To ask something without keeping it, open Message options and choose Temporary chat. A temporary chat isn't saved to your history or memory, and it's deleted when you close it.

Choose how hard Dvina thinks

  1. Type your message.
  2. Open Message options, the arrow beside Send. You can also touch and hold Send, or right-click it.
  3. Under Thinking effort, choose Fast, Medium or High.

Fast is where every chat starts, for quick answers. Medium and High give Dvina more time to think before it answers, for harder questions; the answer takes longer to arrive.

The effort is saved with the chat, so it stays until you change it, on every device. The one in use has a checkmark in Message options. Thinking effort is there on every plan. On the Max plan, Message options also has Model, except on a phone; see Choose the models Dvina uses.

When to use

  • You want to ask about something you discussed weeks ago without searching for it.
  • You're juggling several things at once and want them in one place.
  • You start on your computer and want to finish on your phone.
