Call Dvina like anyone else. Talk the way you talk: pause, cut in, change your mind or think out loud. Dvina keeps up, and when you hang up, the whole conversation is in your chat.

Start a call

  1. In the message field, click or tap the phone button (Talk with Dvina).
  2. The first time, allow Dvina to use your microphone.
  3. Start talking.

The call fills the screen, the way a phone shows a call: Dvina's name and the call's time at the top, and what Dvina says in the middle, word by word as it says it. The status shows whether Dvina is Listening, Working on it or Speaking.

On iPhone and Android

On iPhone, a call with Dvina is a real phone call. It keeps going with the screen locked, shows in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, and appears in your Recents like any other call, so you can call Dvina back from there. On Android, it runs as a phone call too, and you can call back from your call log.

Start a call with Siri

On iPhone, you can call Dvina without opening the app first. Dvina opens and the call starts, just as when you call back from Recents.

  • Siri: Say "Talk to Dvina" or "Start a call with Dvina".
  • Spotlight: Swipe down on the Home Screen, type Dvina, and choose Call Dvina.
  • Shortcuts: Add the Call Dvina action to a shortcut.
  • Action Button: Go to Settings › Action Button, choose Shortcut, then choose Call Dvina. One press starts the call.

On a computer or the web

To keep working while you talk, click Minimize conversation, click outside the call or press Esc. The call goes on in a small bar above the message field; click it to bring the call back. In a browser, allow the microphone for the site from the icon beside the address.

Use the call controls

  • Mute: Turns your microphone off or back on.
  • Speaker (or Audio): On iPhone and Android, chooses where the call's sound plays, like the loudspeaker or your earbuds.
  • Type: Switches to typing in the call's thread, when it's easier to write something down.
  • End: Ends the call.

To cut in, just start talking. Dvina stops mid-answer and listens.

See the conversation so far

While you're on the call, scroll up, or choose Conversation, to see everything said so far. To return to the call, choose Back to live.

Find the call in your chat

When you hang up, the call shows in your chat as one card, Voice call, with when it started, how long it lasted and what it made, like files and tasks. While a call goes on, the card says Ongoing. Open the card to read the conversation and carry on from there, typing or talking.

Start work by voice

Ask for something big in the middle of a call, like comparing three quotes. Dvina starts a task right away and says so, and the conversation goes on. The task reports back in your chat when it's done.

Your language

Speak the language you think in. Dvina picks yours when the call starts, from your preferences or the way you write to it, answers in it, and switches when you do.

When to use

  • Your hands are busy, like when you're cooking, walking or driving.
  • You want to think something through out loud.
  • It's faster to say it than to type it.

Tips

  • Ask from your wrist. Your watch is a client like your phone: ask Dvina by voice and approve from your wrist.
  • If a call ends by itself. A call ends after a few quiet minutes. If you start a call on another device, the conversation continues there.
  • Allow the microphone. If Dvina says Turn on the microphone, choose Open Settings and allow it for Dvina.
