You can connect your company's own tools, like a wiki or an inventory system, by their web address. Add the tool's MCP server as a custom app, and it works like every other app in Dvina.
Before you start
You need the server's address. It starts with https://. If the server needs you to sign in and doesn't support dynamic client registration, you also need an OAuth client ID and client secret from whoever runs the server.
Warning
Only connect servers you trust.
Add a custom app
- Open Settings and choose Apps.
- Under Custom Apps, choose Add Custom App.
- Enter the Server URL.
- Choose Test Connection. When it works, Dvina shows how many tools it found, like 12 tools found, and may suggest a name from the server.
- Check the Name, or enter your own.
- If the server needs it, fill in OAuth (Optional) with the OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret. Leave these blank when the server supports dynamic client registration.
- Choose Add.
You can add the app only after its connection test works. If the test says OAuth required, the server needs you to sign in; you do that the first time Dvina uses it.
Sign in to the server
When Dvina first needs a custom app that asks for a sign-in, it shows Dvina would like to use and the app's name. Choose Allow, sign in on the server's page, and Dvina tells you when the app is connected.
Use a custom app
Once it's added, ask Dvina for what you need, and it uses the app's tools when your request calls for them. You don't have to name the app, but you can.
A custom app's actions ask for approval the same way as every other app's:
- Tools that only read run without asking.
- Tools that change something show an approval card first. You choose Allow or Reject.
- Tools that send something to another person or delete for good ask every time, whatever you allowed before.
Dvina knows which is which from what the server says about each tool. When a server doesn't say, the tool asks before it runs.
Check or remove a custom app
Go to Settings › Apps and choose the app under Custom Apps. Its page shows the Server URL, the number of Tools and its Status.
- To check that it still works, choose Test Connection.
- To remove it, choose Remove…, then Remove to confirm. Dvina removes the app and its saved authorization.
If the status says Connection failed, check the server details with whoever runs the server, then test again.
On Enterprise
Admins can turn custom MCP servers on or off for everyone, and choose which server hosts are allowed or blocked. When admins turn them off, Add Custom App shows Turned off by your admin.
