Bring your conversations from ChatGPT, Claude or Grok, so Dvina knows what you've already talked about elsewhere. You export your data in the app you're leaving, then drop the ZIP file into Dvina.

Export your chats

Ask the app you're leaving for your data first.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Data Controls > Export Data.
  2. Download the ZIP file you receive by email.

Claude

  1. In Claude, go to Settings > Privacy and open the export data area.
  2. Request the export, then download the ZIP file when Claude emails it to you.

Grok

  1. In Grok, go to Settings > Data Export and open the conversation export section.
  2. Export your conversation history, then download the ZIP archive when it's ready.

ChatGPT emails your export, sometimes hours later. You can use Dvina in the meantime.

Import during setup

When you set up Dvina, the Everything in. Nothing lost. step asks for your export.

  1. Drag the ZIP file onto Drop an export here, or click or choose a file.
  2. While Dvina reads it, the app's row says Reading your chats…. When it's done, the row shows how many conversations came in.

You can import from all three apps in this step, one after the other.

If your ChatGPT export hasn't arrived yet, choose Remind me on the ChatGPT row. Dvina reminds you to add it, and setup doesn't wait for it. The row then shows when the reminder comes, today or tomorrow.

Import any time

After setup, open Import Chats in either of these places:

  • Library: Open the Library from the Dock, choose Add Context, then choose Import Chats.
  • Context: Before Dvina has learned any topics, the Context page offers Import chats.

Then:

  1. Choose ChatGPT, Claude or Grok to see the steps for that app.
  2. Drag your ZIP file onto Drag and drop your export ZIP here, or click Browse files.
  3. Check the preview. It shows how many Chats and Messages are in the export, and how many Duplicates you've already imported.
  4. Click Import Chats.

When you see Import started, your conversations are on their way. Click Open folder to see them, or Close to carry on.

You can pick a ZIP file or the JSON files from inside it. You can also pick more than one file at a time.

What happens to your chats

Each conversation becomes a document in your Library, in an Imported folder for each app, like Imported › ChatGPT. You can open, search or delete any of them.

Dvina can use each conversation as soon as it's indexed. In your chat, an import card follows along:

  • While Dvina reads, the card says Dvina is reading your ChatGPT history (or Claude or Grok) and shows Reading with a percentage.
  • When it's done, the card says Dvina now knows your ChatGPT history and shows Ready, with the number of conversations and messages and the period they cover.
  • The card suggests questions to ask, like What projects was I working on? Choose one to ask it.
  • Click the folder name at the bottom of the card to open the folder.

Later, the card folds into one line in your chat, like Imported 214 chats from ChatGPT. Click the line to open the card again.

From then on, your questions land on everything you talked about before. Imported chats also help Dvina learn the topics on your Context page.

If something goes wrong

  • Conversations were skipped. Conversations that were empty or that you already imported are skipped, so importing the same export twice doesn't make copies. The card or the confirmation says how many were skipped.
  • "We could not find any supported JSON files in that selection." The file you chose isn't an export. Choose the ZIP file the app sent you, not a folder or another file.
  • "The import could not be completed. Please try another export." Download a fresh export from the app you're leaving and try again.
  • "Turned off by your admin." Your company manages your Dvina workspace and has turned importing off. Ask your admin.

Delete imported chats

To delete one conversation, delete its document in the Library. To delete all of them, go to Settings › Privacy & Data and choose Delete Imported Chats. See Privacy and your data.
