A task is real work you hand to Dvina, like comparing bids, writing a proposal or cleaning up last quarter's numbers. It keeps working in the background while you get on with your day, and reports back in the same chat.

How it works

Ask for something that takes a while, the way you'd ask anything else. Dvina starts a task, and a line for it appears under your message. The chat never locks: you can keep talking, ask something else or start more tasks.

There's no limit and no waiting line. Start as many tasks as you like and they run side by side; only your plan's usage bounds them.

Each task shows as one line in the chat, with its name, how far it is and what it's doing now, for example Working, Waiting for you or Done. When it finishes, it reports back in the chat you asked in, as a short report with any files it made.

Follow your tasks

The ring by the message field shows your tasks at a glance. It fills as work moves along, and a dot on it means a result you haven't seen yet.

  • See all tasks: Click or tap the ring. The list shows what's running Now, and what ran in the Last 12 hours.
  • Open a task: Click its line in the chat, or choose it in the list. The task opens in the side panel, where you can see its steps and reply to it.

To get a notification when a task finishes, choose Notify me when it's done when Dvina offers it. On iPhone, a running task also shows as a Live Activity on your Lock Screen.

Answer a task

Most tasks finish on their own. When one needs a choice that's yours to make, it asks once and its line says Waiting for you. A task always asks before it sends, pays for or deletes anything, with an approval card where you choose Allow or Reject. You can also choose Always allow for this task.

Work toward a goal

For work that has to meet a bar, Dvina can propose a goal: Work on this until it's done?, with what it means to be Done when and the limits it works within.

  1. Choose Start, or choose Edit to change the criteria and rounds, then Save and start. To do the work without a goal, choose Just do it once.
  2. Dvina works in rounds, and checks each round against the goal.
  3. If the goal is met, the task ends with Goal met. If it reaches its limit, it hands you its best version.

If more rounds won't help, Dvina asks you to decide: Accept the best version, Give one more round, Adjust goal or Stop.

Stop a task

  • Stop one task: Right-click its line in the chat (touch and hold on a phone) and choose Stop task.
  • Stop every running task: Right-click the ring (touch and hold on a phone) and choose Stop all.

You can also stop a task from its Live Activity, or just ask Dvina. A stopped task keeps the work it has done. If a task didn't finish, choose Continue under its line to send it back to work.

When to use

  • The job takes more than a quick answer, like a report, a comparison or a cleanup.
  • You have several things to get done and want them all moving at once.
  • You want to step away and get the result later, on your phone or your watch.

Tips

  • Clear the list. Right-click the ring (touch and hold on a phone) and choose Clear finished.
  • Start a task by voice. Ask for something big in the middle of a call. Dvina starts it right away, and the conversation goes on.
  • Delete all tasks. Go to Settings › Privacy & Data and choose Delete All Tasks. Running tasks stop, then every task and its messages are deleted.
