# Sharing

> Share a thread, a task, a file or a Live Answer with people, a team or a link, choose who can edit, and stop sharing anytime.

Share what you make in Dvina with the people working on it: a chat thread, a task, a document, a Live Answer, a canvas, a folder or a database. Choose who can open it and who can edit it.

## How it works

You can share with people by name, with a whole team, with everyone in your workspace, or with a link anyone can open.

What people can do depends on what you share:

- **Documents, Live Answers and canvases** can be shared with **Can edit** or **Can view**. On a shared canvas, you see each other's cursor and every change as it happens, Dvina's too.
- **Chats, threads, tasks, folders and databases** are shared to view. They open exactly as shared, with a note saying who shared them. Items inside a shared folder are shared too.

## Share with people

1. Open what you want to share and click **Share**. For a thread, you can also right-click the answer it started from (touch and hold on a phone) and choose **Share Thread**. In your Feed, open an item's menu and choose **Share…**.
2. In **To**, add people or teams by name.
3. Choose **Can edit** or **Can view**, where you can choose.
4. Add a message if you like, then click **Send**.

People you share with hear about it in the app, by push and by email. To share by name, they need a Dvina account.

## Share a link

1. Click **Share**.
2. Under **General access**, choose **Anyone with the link**. Anyone with the link can view, never edit.
3. Under **Link expires**, choose **In a day**, **In 7 days**, **In 30 days** or **Never**.
4. Click **Copy Link** and send it.

Someone who opens the link without Dvina sees the item as shared. To continue it in their own Dvina, they can choose **Make a Copy**; the original stays as it is.

To give everyone at work access instead, choose **Your workspace**. To keep it to the people you add, choose **Restricted**. Only the owner changes general access.

## Find what's shared with you

Open your Feed from the Dock, then choose **Shared with me**. Everything sent to you is there, with who sent each one.

You can ask Dvina about anything shared with you, even when you can only view it, like the deck a colleague sent or last week's thread. The answer shows its source.

## Stop sharing

- **Remove a person:** Click **Share**, find them under **People with access**, and choose **Remove access**.
- **Turn off a link:** Click **Share** and choose **Turn Off Link**. To replace it, choose **New Link**; the old one no longer works.
- **Leave something shared with you:** Click **Share**, find yourself under **People with access**, and choose **Leave**.

Remove someone or turn a link off, and their access ends right away.

> [!TIP]
> To close every public link at once, go to Settings › **Privacy & Data** and choose **Close All Public Links**. People you shared with by name keep their access.

## When to use

- You're planning a trip or a project with someone and want to work on one page.
- You want a colleague to see how a task turned out.
- You want to send a budget, an app or a plan to someone who doesn't use Dvina.

## Tips

- **Share with a team.** Share once with a whole team instead of adding people one by one. Admins make teams in Settings › **People**.
- **Keep a Live Answer to share it.** Save a Live Answer to your Feed, then share it from there.
- **Company limits.** On Enterprise, admins can turn public links off and keep sharing inside your workspace.
