# Slack

> Connect Slack so Dvina can read your messages and channels, tell you what needs you, and post only with your approval.

Connect Slack to keep your team's conversations tied to the rest of your work. Dvina reads your messages and channels, tells you what needs you and drafts what you'd say next.

## What Dvina can do

- Read your messages and channel activity, and answer questions about them.
- Summarize what happened, like "Summarize today's Slack" or "What needs me in Slack?"
- Tell you when something in Slack matters, with one short card that says why. Your Slack page in **Apps** shows how many need you, or **Nothing needs you right now.**
- Draft a reply for you. On a Slack card, choose **Reply**, or choose **Brief me** for the details.
- Post a message or a note to a channel or a person, after you approve it.

Because Dvina sees Slack next to your other apps, one question can cover all of them. For example, ask "What's blocking Friday's build?" and Dvina reads your issues, your pull requests and the team chat, and gives you one answer.

Dvina can also carry details from one app to another, like a note to your team about an invoice that just arrived in your mail. The note waits for your **Allow** before it's posted.

## Permissions

Dvina reads Slack freely, so it can answer and prepare work. Anything that changes something waits for you:

- **Reading:** Reading your messages and channels runs without asking.
- **Writing:** Changing something in Slack shows an approval card first. You choose **Allow** or **Reject**.
- **Sending and deleting:** Posting a message that others will see and deleting for good ask every time. Their card says so, for example **Sends, asks every time**, and doesn't offer **Always allow**.

If you connected more than one Slack account, the approval card shows which one Dvina uses.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> Nothing is posted for others to see until you choose **Allow**.

## How to connect

1. Open Settings and choose **Apps**.
2. Choose **Browse Apps…**, then find **Slack**.
3. Choose **Connect**.
4. Sign in to your Slack workspace and allow access.
5. When Dvina says the app is connected, you're done.

To connect another workspace or account, go to Settings › **Apps**, choose **Slack**, then choose **Add Account…**. Use **Rename** to name each one and **Make Default** to pick the one Dvina uses first.

> [!TIP]
> To choose which Slack changes Dvina tells you about, open **Slack** in **Apps** and choose **Notifications**. To stop Dvina from noticing what happens there, turn off **Dvina notices what happens in Slack** on the same page.

## Privacy

- What you connect is never used to train AI models.
- Only what your request needs is read.
- Personal details like card and phone numbers are masked before the AI sees them.
- Your data is encrypted in transit.

## Disconnect

1. Open **Apps** in your Library and choose **Slack**.
2. Choose **Disconnect Slack**, then choose **Disconnect** to confirm.

Dvina stops reading from Slack. What it already brought in stays, and you can connect it again any time.
