# Gmail and Google Calendar

> Connect Gmail and Google Calendar so Dvina can read your mail and schedule, prepare replies and plans, and act only with your approval.

Connect Gmail and Google Calendar to let Dvina work from your real inbox and schedule. Dvina can answer questions about your mail and meetings, notice what changes and prepare what comes next.

## What Dvina can do

### With Gmail

- Find and read your email and conversation history, and answer questions about them.
- Summarize what came in, like "Summarize today's Gmail" or "What needs me in Gmail?"
- Draft replies for you to review.
- Send email, after you approve it.
- Tell you when a new email matters, with one short card instead of a pile of notifications.

When you add a saved email to your Library, as an .eml or .msg file, each of its attachments, like a PDF or a spreadsheet, becomes a document of its own in the same folder. Dvina reads them like any file you add, so you can find them and ask about them. Images inside the email, like a logo in a signature, are left out.

### With Google Calendar

- Read your events and availability, and answer questions like "When's my next call with Sarah?"
- Help you plan meetings and keep your schedule organized.
- Add or change events, after you approve it.
- Tell you when an event is updated.

Because Dvina sees your mail, your calendar and your chats together, it can connect them. For example, it can bring together something you said in a chat, an email that just arrived and the meeting on your calendar, and have the next step ready before the meeting.

## Permissions

Dvina reads Gmail and Google Calendar freely, so it can answer and prepare work. Anything that changes something waits for you:

- **Reading:** Searching and reading your email, threads and events runs without asking.
- **Writing:** Creating or changing something, like a draft or an event, shows an approval card first. You choose **Allow** or **Reject**.
- **Sending and deleting:** Sending an email to someone and deleting for good ask every time. Their card says so, for example **Sends, asks every time**, and doesn't offer **Always allow**.

If you connected more than one Google account, the approval card shows which one Dvina uses, for example **From:** and the account.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> Nothing goes to another person or is deleted for good until you choose **Allow**.

## How to connect

1. Open Settings and choose **Apps**.
2. Choose **Browse Apps…**, then find **Gmail** or **Google Calendar**.
3. Choose **Connect**.
4. Sign in with your Google account and allow access.
5. When Dvina says the app is connected, you're done. Repeat for the other app.

You can also connect both during setup, in the **Apps** step.

To add a second Google account, like a work account, go to Settings › **Apps**, choose the app, then choose **Add Account…**. Use **Rename** to name each account and **Make Default** to pick the one Dvina uses first.

> [!TIP]
> To choose which changes Dvina tells you about, open the app's page in **Apps** and choose **Notifications**. To stop Dvina from noticing what happens in the app, turn off **Dvina notices what happens in Gmail** on the same page.

## Privacy

- What you connect is never used to train AI models.
- Only what your request needs is read.
- Personal details like card numbers and addresses are masked before the AI sees them.
- Your data is encrypted in transit.

## Disconnect

1. Open **Apps** in your Library and choose **Gmail** or **Google Calendar**.
2. Choose **Disconnect Gmail** or **Disconnect Google Calendar**, then choose **Disconnect** to confirm.

Dvina stops reading from that app. What it already brought in stays, and you can connect it again any time. To disconnect one Google account and keep the others, go to Settings › **Apps**, choose the app, and choose **Disconnect** from that account's menu.
