# GitHub

> Connect GitHub so Dvina can read your repositories, pull requests and issues, follow what changes, and act only with your approval.

Connect GitHub to keep development work moving with more context. Dvina reads your repositories, pull requests and issues, answers questions about them and tells you when something changes.

## What Dvina can do

- Review your repositories, pull requests, issues and commits, and answer questions about them.
- Summarize what changed, like "Summarize today's GitHub" or "What needs me in GitHub?"
- Tell you when something in GitHub matters, with one short card that says why.
- Create and update issues, pull requests and comments, after you approve it.

Because Dvina sees GitHub next to your other apps, one question can cover all of them. Ask "What's blocking Friday's build?" and Dvina reads your issues, your pull requests and the team chat, and gives you one answer, like the blockers and the fix that's in review.

> [!NOTE]
> Connecting GitHub lets Dvina work with GitHub itself. To have Dvina write and run code in a project on your computer, use the desktop app. See [Code](/docs/use-dvina/features/code).

## Permissions

Dvina reads GitHub freely, so it can answer and prepare work. Anything that changes something waits for you:

- **Reading:** Reading repositories, pull requests, issues and commits runs without asking.
- **Writing:** Creating or changing something, like an issue or a comment, shows an approval card first. You choose **Allow** or **Reject**.
- **Deleting:** Deleting something for good asks every time. Its card says **Deletes for good, asks every time** and doesn't offer **Always allow**.

If you connected more than one GitHub account, the approval card shows which one Dvina uses.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> Nothing changes in your repositories until you choose **Allow**.

## How to connect

1. Open Settings and choose **Apps**.
2. Choose **Browse Apps…**, then find **GitHub**.
3. Choose **Connect**.
4. Sign in to GitHub and allow access.
5. When Dvina says the app is connected, you're done.

To add another GitHub account, go to Settings › **Apps**, choose **GitHub**, then choose **Add Account…**. Use **Rename** to name each one and **Make Default** to pick the one Dvina uses first.

> [!TIP]
> To choose which GitHub changes Dvina tells you about, open **GitHub** in **Apps** and choose **Notifications**. To stop Dvina from noticing what happens there, turn off **Dvina notices what happens in GitHub** on the same page.

## Privacy

- What you connect is never used to train AI models.
- Only what your request needs is read.
- Personal details like card and phone numbers are masked before the AI sees them.
- Your data is encrypted in transit.

## Disconnect

1. Open **Apps** in your Library and choose **GitHub**.
2. Choose **Disconnect GitHub**, then choose **Disconnect** to confirm.

Dvina stops reading from GitHub. What it already brought in stays, and you can connect it again any time.
